Reciprocal Agreements
SLIANZ have reciprocal agreements with a number of other organisations. These agreements formalise and strengthen our relationship with these organisations.
Deaf Aotearoa and SLIANZ signed a Joint Statement on 22nd July 2012, following the agreement between the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) and the World Association of Sign Language Interpreters (WASLI). After changes to the WFD/WASLI Agreement, a new Cooperation Agreement was signed on 7th July 2019.
DANZ SLIANZ Co-operation Agreement 2019
SLIANZ and ASLIA (the Australian Sign Language Interpreters’ Association) signed a Memorandum of Understanding in December 2012. The two Associations have also signed a reciprocal membership agreement, entitling members of SLIANZ to be recognised as associate members of ASLIA and vice versa.
SLIANZ is formally affiliated with the New Zealand Society of Translators and Interpreters (NZSTI). Members of SLIANZ can join NZSTI at reduced cost and are granted full Member status.
