Te Reo Māori and Te Ao Māori are intrinsic parts of life and society in Aotearoa. As NZSL interpreters it is important to continually learn about our indigenous culture and language so that we are able to provide better quality access for the New Zealand Deaf community.
Te Reo Māori and Māori knowledge are also becoming more prevalent within the work that we do and as people living in Aotearoa we are responsible for our own ongoing education where needed.
Below is a list of resources to help with this journey. Whilst the list is not exhaustive, it contains a mixture of helpful books, courses, apps and websites to help beginners to the Māori language. If you know of other useful resources then email us at secretary@slianz.org.nz
