Call for Papers

The conference theme is “Honouring the Past ~ Looking to the Future”. We will also be celebrating SLIANZ’s 30th year and 20 years of NZSL being an official language.
We welcome paper proposals that explore the past, present, and future of interpreting and NZSL, including the ways emerging technologies — such as artificial intelligence — may influence the profession.
This conference is an opportunity to reflect on where we have come from, to celebrate the achievements and strengths of our communities, and to look ahead to the future we are building together.
For example:
- Deaf / hearing partnerships
- Interpreters and Te Ao Māori
- Interpreter training
- Practical skill development
- Tools for the interpreter toolkit
Session Styles
We invite proposals for both practical and theoretical presentations, panels, and interactive workshops. Conference attendance will be face to face and not streamed, but there may be scope for online presentations.
- Presentations will be 30 minutes, including 10 minutes for questions.
- Panels and workshops will be 60 minutes
We are open to alternative session formats. Please contact the conference committee if you would like to discuss how your session could fit into the conference programme, or if you would like other support to prepare your proposal.
